Primary Purpose:

Provide leadership and oversight for the district's operational services, including Maintenance and Operations, Custodial Services, Grounds, Transportation, and Child Nutrition. Direct and manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of operational systems that support the district's educational mission. Ensure district facilities, transportation services, equipment, food service operations, and support services are safe, efficient, compliant, and fiscally responsible while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence. 

 

Qualifications

 

Experience:


• Three years of leadership experience in education, operations, facilities, transportation, child nutrition, business management, or a related field preferred.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

Leadership and Operations


• Provide leadership and oversight for Maintenance and Operations, Custodial Services, Grounds, Transportation, and Child Nutrition.
• Develop and implement operational goals, procedures, and long-range plans aligned with district priorities.
• Coordinate departmental activities to ensure efficient, safe, and effective support of district programs and services.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

 

Facilities, Transportation, and Child Nutrition


• Ensure district facilities, grounds, equipment, transportation services, and child nutrition operations are safe, efficient, compliant, and well maintained.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs, transportation operations, food service programs, and operational support services.
• Manage facility improvements, capital projects, renovations, fleet operations, and equipment replacement.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure projects and services meet district expectations.
• Implement energy management and conservation initiatives to maximize operational efficiency.

Budget and Resource Management
• Develop and administer departmental budgets and ensure responsible stewardship of district resources.
• Oversee purchasing, bidding, contracts, inventory, and procurement activities in accordance with district policy and legal requirements.
• Monitor operational expenditures and recommend replacement or disposal of obsolete equipment and assets.

Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and board policies.
• Oversee operational safety programs, inspections, audits, certifications, and corrective action plans.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, crisis response, and risk management efforts to protect students, staff, facilities, and district assets.

Personnel Management
• Directly supervise assigned coordinators and other operational personnel.
• Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations regarding employment actions.
• Develop leadership capacity through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
• Maintain current job descriptions and ensure accurate personnel records and timekeeping processes.

 

Community and Stakeholder Relations


• Collaborate with district and campus leaders, vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to support district operations.
• Respond to operational concerns and develop effective solutions.

Other
• Attend board meetings, committee meetings, and district events as required.
• Maintain professional growth through ongoing training and development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Directly supervise assigned departmental coordinators and operational personnel. Responsible for the overall supervision, evaluation, and management of Maintenance and Operations, Custodial Services, Grounds, Transportation, and Child Nutrition staff. Provide leadership and direction for operational programs, budgets, compliance requirements, and strategic initiatives.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; district vehicle.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and occasional climbing.

Motion: Frequent districtwide travel; repetitive hand motions; occasional reaching, lifting, and carrying.

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying of supplies and equipment.

Environment: Work conducted in office, school, warehouse, kitchen, maintenance, and outdoor environments. Frequent districtwide travel. May work prolonged or irregular hours in response to operational needs, emergencies, or special projects.

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
